_Personal Training
When performing a personal training consultation, we need to cover important ground such as physical activity readiness questionnaire, lifestyle and activity consultation, fitness testing, disclaimers, cancellation policy, terms and conditions etc.. It astounds me that more personal trainers do not use a systemised formula for actually doing the sales, I look at it that you are filling in all these forms anyway, one more isn't going to hurt.

Many people feel uncomfortable with "selling" Its only uncomfortable if you try any of the pressure selling that never really worked in the past but unfortunately some personal trainers still try it on
If you listen to your potential client, find out what they are looking for a solution for be it weight loss, muscle building etc. then present your solution you get a much better take up rate
Here are a few questions you should ask when performing a personal training sales consultation
1. What are you looking to achieve?
The most important question you can ask, here you are asking what benefit your potential client is looking to gain from working with you and you can see ways that you can help
2. What exercise have you been doing up until now?
This identifies what they have been doing and in many cases, you'll be able to see where they have been going wrong
3. What exercise have you been doing in the last 4 weeks?
Are they active exercisers or have they been active and doing the wrong thing, now is a good time to ask about their diet too and how well (or not so well) they eat as its a huge factor whether or not your clients get to their goals
4. Have you noticed any difference since stopping?
This is going for their sore spot, everyone who exercises knows how tough it is to get back into an exercise program after stopping for a period of time
5. When would you like to see a difference?
This is where you can manage their expectation and also look at which of your personal training packages would be the most appropriate for them in terms of time
6. On a scale of one to ten how important is getting your goal?
Most say ten automatically but this then opens the conversation where you can say realistically whats involved, how much they can expect to achieve and most importantly from our point of view, how you can help
